Temporomandibular Disorders AKA TMJ

This is common in patients with a lot of stress.  Pain, numbness,  clicking of the jaw when chewing, and pain when chewing.  The best treatment is steriods for the inflammation and muscle relaxants, diazepam (valium), is commonly prescribed.  Splint therapy helps, although there is no cure.  It also can flare and go away from time to time.  You can try OTC non-steriodal anti-inflammatory naproxen or Aleve, which is naproxen, it can help with the pain and any inflammation.  Stay Informed!   Temporomandibular Disorders: Merck Manual Home Edition
